Some weddings ask a band to do everything. Others ask for one thing, done exactly right. Shivali and Chris’s June wedding at Montage Big Sky fell into the second category – and it made for one of the most scenic, high-altitude nights The Barnstorm has played all year.

A Wedding Worth the Trip
Big Sky isn’t exactly next door for a New York-based band, and getting there for Shivali and Chris’s wedding meant a full travel day – flights into Bozeman, a drive through Montana’s big, open country, and a load-in with mountain views most bands only get to see on vacation. It’s the kind of trip that reminds you why couples choose a destination in the first place: for a setting no ballroom back home could ever match.
Montage Big Sky delivered on that promise. Set against the peaks of the Rocky Mountains, the resort’s Grand Ballroom gave the evening a sense of scale that matched the occasion – high ceilings, mountain light pouring in, and a room built for a celebration this size.
The Reception: Two Sets, All Energy
While the couple’s DJ team led guests through the ceremony, cocktail hour, and the evening’s formal moments – toasts, a father-daughter dance, a mother-son dance – The Barnstorm took the stage once dinner wrapped and the dance floor officially opened.
The band leaned into a set list built for a crowd that wanted to move: modern pop hits, throwback singalongs, and a few well-placed classics that had every generation in the room on the floor at once. A short pause let guests catch their breath and take in a Montana sunset before the band came back for a second, longer set that carried the party through to the end of the night.
What Made This Wedding Work
Not every wedding needs a band involved in every hour of the day – and Shivali and Chris’s celebration is a good example of why. By bringing The Barnstorm in specifically for the reception, they got a dedicated, high-energy dance floor experience without asking one vendor to stretch across the entire event. Paired with a planning team at Eventrics Weddings that knew how to keep the transitions seamless, the night moved exactly the way it was designed to – and the mountain backdrop did the rest.
