There are Hudson Valley wedding venues, and then there is The Roundhouse. Perched above the rushing Fishkill Creek waterfall in the heart of downtown Beacon, this lovingly restored 19th-century industrial landmark has a way of making every wedding feel like it was always meant to happen here – exposed brick, original wood beams, floor-to-ceiling windows, and the sound of falling water just outside. On a warm June evening, Geneva and Max made it their own.

From an outdoor ceremony on the garden grounds to a jazz trio cocktail hour, through toasts and special dances, to a full-band reception that kept the floor packed from the first downbeat to the last song, this was a night built on great music in a remarkable setting – with the Hudson Valley at its most beautiful as the backdrop.

The Setting: The Roundhouse at Peak Hudson Valley Season

June in Beacon is something special. The town – about 90 minutes north of New York City and accessible by Metro-North from Grand Central – sits at the foot of the Hudson Highlands, with hiking trails, an internationally recognized contemporary art museum, and one of the most vibrant main streets in the region all within walking distance. At the eastern end of Main Street, The Roundhouse anchors it all.

Originally built as a manufacturing facility in the 1800s, The Roundhouse has been masterfully restored into a full-service boutique hotel, award-winning restaurant, and dedicated event venue – all in one walkable property set above the cascading Beacon Falls. The Waterfall Room’s soaring ceilings, exposed brick, and floor-to-ceiling windows give every celebration an effortlessly dramatic atmosphere, and the outdoor garden ceremony space – with its bluestone path and backdrop of lush greenery – is one of the more quietly gorgeous spots in the Hudson Valley wedding world.

For Geneva and Max, it was the perfect stage.

Ceremony: Outside, Above the Falls

Geneva and Max married outdoors in The Roundhouse’s garden ceremony space, with guests gathered on the bluestone path surrounded by summer greenery. The Barnstorm provided a solo acoustic guitar performance during the ceremony, setting a warm, intimate tone before the evening opened up into something bigger.

Geneva’s processional was “Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts. The recessional that carried the newlyweds back down the aisle together was the Proclaimers’ “(I’m Gonna Be) 500 Miles” – an upbeat, joyful punctuation mark on the ceremony that had guests grinning and clapping along.

Cocktail Hour: The Jazz Trio Takes the Garden

As guests moved into cocktail hour, The Barnstorm Jazz Trio provided the soundtrack – a classic piano-led ensemble format that brought warmth and sophistication to the early part of the evening. Craft cocktails were poured, Beacon’s famous June light filtered through the trees, and the energy slowly built toward what was coming.

The cocktail hour playlist leaned into timeless jazz and pop standards, the kind of music that fills a room without demanding attention – exactly what a great cocktail hour needs.

The Reception: Full Band, Full Dance Floor

When Geneva and Max made their entrance into the reception as husband and wife, the band launched into “Where the Hell is My Husband?” – a fun, tongue-in-cheek choice that got a big laugh and set the tone perfectly for what followed: a high-energy, unrelenting reception from start to finish.

The 8-piece Barnstorm band performed across multiple live sets throughout the evening, with the dance floor filling up early and staying that way. The set list pulled from across decades and genres – the kind of wide-ranging, crowd-reading performance that The Barnstorm is known for.

The Special Dances

Three formal dances gave the evening its emotional anchors.

Geneva and Max’s first dance was “Make You Feel My Love” – a song that has become a wedding classic for good reason, with its lyrical directness and unhurried intimacy. For the parent dances, Geneva danced with her father to “My Girl” by the Temptations, and Max took the floor with his mother to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong. Both moments landed exactly as they should – tender, unhurried, and full.

What Made This Night Work

The Roundhouse has a natural flow that rewards couples who trust it. The outdoor ceremony grounds, the indoor cocktail spaces, and the main Waterfall Room reception hall each have their own character – and when the music is calibrated to match each moment, the evening moves with a momentum that feels inevitable rather than planned.

Geneva and Max did that well. The acoustic ceremony set an intimate, personal tone. The jazz trio expanded the warmth into the cocktail hour. The full band took that energy and ran with it. By the time the dance floor opened, the room was already primed – and it stayed that way.

For couples looking at Hudson Valley wedding venues within reach of New York City, The Roundhouse in Beacon consistently ranks among the most distinctive and well-run options in the region. Pair it with a live band and the right vendor team, and the results tend to speak for themselves.
